Scott Advocacy and Consulting, LLC helps nonprofits and community groups secure changes in public policy and legislation that will advance their causes. Scott Advocacy and Consulting's founder, Steve Scott, provides assistance in these areas:

• Formulating and communicating public policy proposals
• Tracking legislation and following the lawmaking process
• Working with individual members of the Iowa Legislature, political leadership, and staff
• Advancing client’s positions at legislative subcommittee meetings and committee hearings

Because of Steve's advocacy efforts as executive director of Prevent Child Abuse Iowa (1996-2016), the Iowa Legislature:

• Expanded protections for children sexually abused by people living with them (2016)

• Funded annual surveys to determine the impact of childhood trauma on adult health (2014-16)
• Appropriated $200,000 annually for child sexual abuse prevention services (2007-16) and created a child sexual abuse prevention task force, which PCA Iowa chaired and staffed (2011-12)

• Established and extended Iowa’s income tax check off for child abuse prevention (2008-16)
• Created a statewide Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention program (2009)

In the 2017 and 2018 Iowa Legislative sessions, Steve was the contact lobbyist for:
